So we live in the middle of Puget Sound and to Midwesterners, that’s practically the same as heaven. The beach is just down the road, and mountain ranges hem us in on either side. Good gods, we love it.
Sparks spent the summer perfecting his crab technique. Last winter he tried crab-raking by moonlight, and found it cold and frustrating. In the spring he tried putting on a wetsuit to crab-rake by daylight, and found it cold and frustrating. Then, going by his cousin’s advice, he bought an inflatable dinghy and two crab pots. Jackpot.
There is a second, autumn crab season open now. We have a freezer full of it, yes we do.
