I hadn’t done any off-track betting before, but Sparks had, and yesterday was the Kentucky Derby, which calls for it. We piled into the car and drove to town, where there is a big “family entertainment” place–you know the kind of thing, beer, bar, pizza, pool, arcade and OTB. I played skiball with Mimi while Sparks put in $10 for each of us (I chose Vicar’s In Trouble because I liked the name). We got a run for our money. None of us won. It was still fun–the mint juleps were flowing freely and yes, there were women wearing giant hats.
Two minutes, though? That’s really short.
