It was technically on the Solstice, but it was Christmas for my aunt and her family, and we have gone to it too the last several years. This year the driving was really awful, nonstop rain on the way there and nonstop screaming toddler on the way back, but it was divine while we were there. We gave fireworks to my cousins’ kids, my cousins’ kids gave us their old Xbox 360 (and this is the first video game console I have ever had, woohoo!), and Mimi got her marble machine. Oh the marble machine. It’s a lot fancier than the one I had thirty years ago. Things progress.
And now we are home, wearing sweats and playing with our new things, also taking a big breath and preparing for my parents who arrive tomorrow for Christmas Proper. Phew.
