These days, I do most of my work from home. I am supremely lucky to be able to do this… and I don’t know how I could have managed otherwise. Props to all you ladies who have found it possible to sit in an office chair all day throughout your pregnancies!
These days, I am into the second trimester for real. There are some differences from the first trimester…
1) I have switched to maternity tops. My old tshirts, when we got back from vacation, were not covering my belly. I love my maternity tshirts. They are long and comfortable. Hooray!
2) Full-body exhaustion has abated, and been replaced by a tendency toward headaches. I understand this is normal. Bless my husband’s heart for driving me to every drugstore in town yesterday in search of a blood pressure machine, when I was sure I was dying of pre-eclampsia. You’re a saint, sweetie.
3) Um… so I know this isn’t kosher especially for a first child, but… I am feeling things. Way down in my belly. Usually when I am lying down, or when I am sitting slightly forward. Sometimes I feel a big FLOP! and sometimes I feel a little twitch-twitch-twitch. I don’t know if it’s Kidney Bean or not.
4) Instead of eating constantly to stop my stomach from feeling queasy, I am eating constantly because I am RAVENOUS.
I am practicing snack-mitigation, in light of this constant hunger (which has, in the last week, begun to regularly get me up in the middle of the night). I must ALWAYS have some fruit in the house, and I must ALWAYS have a container of washed and cut crudite. It’s my best chance of staying away from the Lofthouse cookies.
I usually start the days with my laptop at the dining table, where it usually sits. Some time around noon, though, I get the crampy-tireds and decide it’s time to recline. My little helper always follows me and settles down for a nap… have I said how very sweet Pudding has gotten? She’s all about snuggles and pajama parties, these days.
