With three Tasha Tudor books sitting around the house, I am having a hard time of it staying in the twenty-first century. It’s just too enticing to slip back into her 1830s world and stay there.
Yesterday, I did six loads of laundry, cleaned up the garden, vacuumed the whole house, scrubbed the bathrooms, sewed together the rest of the Spool birds, made two more string quilt blocks, and baked these blueberry muffins (from Tasha’s recipe). I wish I had that much housework to do every day! I wish I wasn’t spending the day sitting in my office chair! Tasha says that there are enormous benefits to doing your own gardening–you never have to go on a diet, you never get depressed, you never have headaches. I believe it. Sedentary office jobs are flat-out unhealthy. Human bodies were meant to be doing work for hours a day.
And I’m going to have that work cut out for me, today. Sparks has called me to duty on the house renovation. I will be spending several hours today prising up carpet underlayment. Woohoo crowbar!
