Pudding’s Progress

Pudding would like you to know that she has worked very hard on her quilt the past few days. She has finally conquered the cutting-out phase…

And had a rest, to admire her lovely stacks of beautiful squares.

If you have ever done patchwork, you understand the importance of this phase of the process. Your squares [...]

Georgian chicken

It has gotten really cold, outside. Full blown winter cold. It has also suddenly, it seems, begun to get dark oh-so-early (oh, wait, was that the time change? I’m from Indiana, all of that still confuses me). This is crockpot weather.
One of my favorite crockpot recipies was picked up from a message board several years [...]

Pudding plans a quilt

With so much leisure time at her disposal (Sparks and I both have jobs, so she’s the Angel in the Home), Pudding has been finding lots of time to try her paw at various arts and crafts. This weekend when we got back from our road trip, we found her planning a quilt.

Road trip

Sparks and I are just back from a road trip–it was a horrific amount of driving for one weekend, but took us through and to two of my old stomping grounds. Life makes it less and less likely that I’ll be these places again any time soon, so it was good to go back, and [...]

Hello, world. It’s a beautiful new day.

La vie en ambre

I wear amber-tinted sunglasses when outdoors year round. I simply hate to squint, and sunlight makes me squint in all but the blackest weather. That they tweak the colors of nature so beautifully is a secondary benefit… winter looks a little less bleak, green grass and trees are a more vibrant green, and the Autumn [...]

Squirreling away

It is Sunday morning and the food preservation effort continues unabated.

The Halloween pumpkins’ seeds have been dried and roasted

And put into a canning jar for safekeeping

The peel-on batch of dried pears has been taken out of the dehydrator

And another batch, this one peeled, put through

So we have our lovely stash of dried things to snack [...]
